Split packs can be created when you wish to sell an item as an individual, however the supplier sells the product in a larger pack.
In order to sell the product as an individual, you will need to setup the pack size in the stock product, to do this:
1. Enter into the stock product you wish to create a new pack size for.
2. Click into the Product Unit & Pricing tab.
3. Click into an existing pack size and then select the New icon.
4. Enter the required details and then select the Save icon.
If you wish to have the item as a split pack you will need to create a new pack size in the Supplier tab. To do this:
1. Select the Supplier button in the product record, select an existing supplier and select the New icon.
2. Enter the relevant details and save the changes
3. As the supplier does not sell the item in the smaller pack size, you will need to purchase the goods in the larger pack that the supplier provides. Therefore, you will need to keep stock of this item.
The process for purchasing a large pack and selling off individuals:
1. Raise a stock requirement for the large pack from the supplier.
2. Book the item into stock by relating purchase orders relating receipt note.
3. Add the line to a sales order using the individual item
4. When you authorize the sales order the line will automatically allocate from stock
*Please note only full quantities will allocate i.e. if you purchase a pack of 20 with a quantity of 3, 60 individual items will be available to allocate however, if you place 70 individual items onto the sales order you will need to part allocate from the product balances.
