Repointing Your Domain

If your domain provider supports CNAME records, then you will need to setup a new CNAME record pointing at go.primasoftware.co

Setting your domain up in this way means that there will be no further requirement to update your domain configuration for the webstore.

OR

IF your domain does not support CNAME records, then an A record can be used, which should be pointed at IP address 70.35.206.34. However this could mean that you will have to update it should the IP address of our webserver change.

Subdomains vs Domains

Using mydomain.com as an example

Type      Name    Value                                                    Purpose

A             @           70.35.206.34                                       to direct users from mydomain.com to 70.35.206.34

CNAME www     go.primasoftware.co                      to direct users from www.mydomain.com to go.primasoftware.co which points to 70.35.206.34

Using shop.mydomain.com as an example

Type      Name    Value                                  Purpose

A             @        [NO CHANGE]                    No need to change this

CNAME shop      go.primasoftware.co          to direct users from shop.mydomain.com to go.primasoftware.co which points                                                                             to 70.35.206.34

Also make sure that if you need to change the @ record that you don’t rely upon it for their emails. An easy way to tell is if your email addresses end in the domain name you are repointing.

If you would like us to help

If you are unsure on how to do this then we can do it for you, we will just need the login details for the control panel of wherever you purchased the domain name from, for example www.123-reg.com.

If you are unsure of who your domain is registered with, we recommend that you perform a WHOIS Lookup at http://whois.domaintools.com/ to find out this information. Changing domain can take up to 48 hours so it is advisable to make this change at a weekend.
